Trying to feed the baby

For the most part, Harrison has adjusted very well to a new baby sister in the house. He occasionally acts like a baby, or has a minute or two of "HOLD ME!" episodes, but for the most part he is doing really well. Until the other day...

Nursing the baby is proving to be an issue. While roaring at the baby like a T-Rex, climbing all over me trying to push me off of the couch, and trying to pull the baby's hair while she was eating - he alternated shouting the following two phrases at me:

"DON'T FEED THE BABY! SHE IS NOT HUNGRY!"

and then real kicker.....over and over and over.....

"GET THAT DRINKING THING OUT OF HER MOUTH!!"

oh H! That is so so funny! Gotta love those drinking things!

Asher had problems with me nursing Ivy as well. Not sure what to do other than just keep doing it- I'm sure it will pass in a couple days.
Sometimes I had to let him just sit right-next-to/on-top-of me while nursing just until he realized I was still his mom and Ivy wasn't going anywhere. Granted I didn't have 50 zillion stitches that might feel like busting so that may be different.

Hil-air-e-us!!! What a cute and witty little guy that H is! I read a lot to Toria while I nursed Rome. It seemed to help... maybe??? Good luck and hang in there.

The Drinking Thing. I love it. That is so funny. Hang in there, my friend! Have you considered pulling out a special basket of toys/activities, reserved only for feeding times? Bribery goes a long way in our house. Oh--and address--I still need your address. When you get a chance (like maybe in another year), will you email it to me?

So funny! Sean used to ask me if he could try it too and was sad when I told him no. I think the reading idea sounds great. I will have to try that too.

oh my goodness! "drinking thing" - too cute!! i have a feeling we're going to be having some feeding issues with lily too ... more b/c she STILL nurses at night and when i told her she would at least have to share with the new baby, she told me "no! mines!" ... *sigh*

Sometimes I would just shut the door and make Jackson wait outside while I nursed, if he couldn't behave himself. I would make sure the other rooms were kid-proofed, but if he was being too loud or crazy I'd just turn him on a movie and have some peace and quiet during feeding time. I also had a little bag of coloring books and things to keep him busy while I nursed. Good luck! :) At least Ava is nursing well, right? :)

Ya, at first I couldn't nurse without Campbell HANGING on me. I bet that soon his "she's not hungry" with turn to "feed her feed her feed her" every time she cries. It didn't take him very long to HATE the sound of crying. :-)

Well, like pretty much everyone else here, I too have dealt with this. Thor would actually grab Winnie's head and try to yank her away. It was physically exhausting trying to keep him at bay for that first little bit, but it seems like it only lasted a couple of weeks -- maybe a month.
